ABOUT US

APTCCARN6, Tampaksiring Presidential Palace,Bali

The Asia Pacific Tropical Climate Conservation Art Research Network (APTCCARN) is a collaborative effort to explore cultural maintenance and preservation of cultural material in Asia and the Pacific. Access to traditional and new works of art enable people and communities to examine their past and create identity and memory, yet research on their preservation has not been a major focus of research in the Asia Pacific region. Our focus is revealing important information about culture and conditions in the region, and what has been preserved and absences from the cultural record.

APTCCARN comprises of a group of researchers whose work focuses on art produced in the Asia-Pacific region. Our approach is inclusive, building on pluralistic and intergenerational knowledge across the four agency(ies) of conservation of objects, people, place and time.

APTCCARN is co-ordinated by the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, The University of Melbourne
